Tambour
Select hardwoods and veneers are used to construct these beautiful clocks. The tambour style was created in the first decade of the 1900s in the US by simplifying the multiple curved shapes of contemporary French clocks and removing ornate brass elements, establishing clean lines with attractive proportions.
The most striking element of these classic clocks is the finish. Lustrous and wonderfully smooth, the wood grains are enhanced with cherry or honey oak treatments. A convex lens held by a hinged brass bezel allows easy access to the keyholes of the Westminster chime and strike movement that powers the mechanical models. Arabic numerals add just the right finishing touch to these American originals.
